Hello lovely ladies! It's the weekend! That means...its work time for me. Yay! Not! Lol

Todays color is ORANGE. I chose Sun Worshiper by China Glaze. The only problem is that my stupid phone camera couldn't pick up the color correctly so, please, do not purchase this color based on these photos because they are HORRIBLE and I apologize. Here they are:

The color looks yellowish but its actually very bright orange.

Well, its time to get ready for work, enjoy the long weekend!

Splatter Mani Weekly Challenge (comparison)

Good afternoon! It's Monday and I'm feeling lazy, heck, who am I kidding, I always feel lazy. Ha ha.
Anyways, As some know, I'm in the Facebook group (face and friends) and we have a weekly mani challenge, we have a whole week to come up with a mani. 6 weekly manis are chosen by Jennifer and Ashley and posted in their blog, The Exotic Lacquer. ( http://theexoticlacquer.blogspot.com/2011/07/weekly-challenge.html?showComment=1312233588289#c1210477383620915269) I was lucky enough to win honorable mentions. :) Thank you ladies.
This weeks challenge is SPLATTER! Yay!!! Not. I tried doing the Splatter mani and it was very very unsuccessful. :( But, I sat down lastnight, determined that I would accept it anyway it came out. I've heard different things about straw size and things like that so, I decided to not only do a Splatter mani, but to do a comparison mani, using different straw sizes and different polishes.
*Supplies you will need:
-1 to 100 polishes, it depends on what look you want.
-1 drinking straw. Or coffee stir.
- News Paper.
- Old shirt. (I did somehow manage to get Splatter on my shirt).
- A pair of scissors. (To cut down the straw after every color)

Okay, so, for my manis, I used 3 different straws,
A coffee stir (small), a "margarita" straw (medium), and a large straw (restaurant size).

For my small straw mani, I used:
*OPI- Shorts Story (pink)
*Sally Hansen HD- Cyber (purple)
*Sinful Colors- Rise and Shine (teal)
*Sally Hansen HD- Hue (yellow)

For my medium straw mani, I used:
*Funky Fingers- Kingston (Orange)
*Orly- Purple Crush (pink)
*Nyc- Empire state blue (blue)

milani,

For my larger straw mani, I used:
*Orly- Iron Butterfly (matte,base)
*Milani- Hi-tech (green)
*Milani- Cyberspace ( light blue)
*China Glaze- 3D fantasy (red)
*China Glaze- High Def (darker blue)

Matte, no topcoat.

With shiny topcoat.

Do you see a difference in the splatter effect 3 manis?

Personally, I like the middle mani because of the colors, as far as actually looking like splatted paint, I'll have to go with the first one.
Which do you like best?

Spanish daily word:
Splatter = Salpicar

Thank you. :)

Weekly Challenge: Summer

As most know, I'm in a couple Facebook groups. This post is about the group Face and Friends. Unlike most groups, that have just 1 specific day to do the challenge, we have a whole week. Yes, a whole week! Awesome, I know. :) This will be our first challenge. The theme is Summer. When I think of summer, I think of bathing suits and bright colors, don't ask me why because I don't even wear bathing suits. Being plus size sucks where I live, there are no stores that carry plus size clothing. We don't have a grocery store, Walmart or anything. It sucks. Anyways, for the weekly challenge, I decided to do a pattern of my dream bathing suit, with all of my favorite colors. Lime green, bright pink, neon yellow, bright orange, and neon purple.

The colors I used where:
*Base:Sinful colors-Snow me white
*Black lines:Finger Paints-Black Expressionism
*Funky fingers-Torguga (green)
*Zoya- Charisma(Purple)
*Sinful Colors- Cream Pink
*Sinful Colors- Neon Melon (yellow)
*Orange- A franken that I made. :)

The lines are not perfect so, if you decide to do this, I would use tape to get straight lines. :)

Daily Spanish word:
Verano- Summer

In the summer, I love to go to the park and also go to the pool with my son and boyfriend.

What is your favorite summer activity? Who do you do it with?

Monarch Butterfly Mani

Yesterday I was bored with the mani I had and wanted to do something bright, summer-y and have a little nail art to it. I posted on a fb group that I am in that I was drawing blanks and a couple of ladies suggested different things.
I had seen the butterfly mani but I really didn't like it. :/ I don't know why but it seemed boring to me. So, I googled "monarch butterfly manicure" and as I was going through the Google pages, I found this photo.

By Shaina at Haute Laquer
Her blog is hautelaquer.blogspot.com

She was my inspiration. For this mani. :) and here is my version:

In natural light, outside

inside with flash

What I used:
Sinful Colors- Snow me white
Funky Fingers - Cayman island
Color Club- Lava Lamp
Finger Paints - Black expressionism
I used image plate m12 for the ring finger.

Sorry for the crappy picture. I took it with my cell.

Also, today I received nail mail from Jennifer, of the Exotic Laquer.
Her blog is theexoticlaquer.blogspot.com
She sent me Wet n wild blue wants to be a millionaire and wet and wild Night prowl. I can't wait to layer blue wants to be a millionaire over black.

Well, I think that's all for today, that was a really long post. Sorry to bore you. ;)
Have a great day.
